I was initially introduced to the island of Cyprus by K&S Overseas Properties, a family run estate agency whom I have found to be very helpful and friendly.
I was most impressed by the diversity of the island, its wonderful
climate, friendly people and charming tavernas. Most
Cypriots speak English and they drive on the left, but the
island has a character and traditions of its own. Cyprus,
Aphrodite's Island, has an intriguing history intermingled
with mythology which, for me, makes it such an exciting place
to visit.
Our first day in Cyprus was spent touring the island and looking
at properties with Andreas, the agent for K&S
Overseas Properties, who have their own offices in
Limassol. An extremely pleasant man, Andreas is a mine
of useful information and was very patient with us as we bombarded
him with question after question, not only about the properties
and the area but also the history and politics of the island.
The properties K&S Overseas Properties
have for sale are of a very high standard and in excellent
locations and they are able to cater for most people's requirements
whatever their lifestyle and budget. We saw properties
in Paphos with unobstructed views down to the Mediterranean
sea, in Polis, a beautiful harbour on the west coast of the
island surrounded by breathtaking countryside and in the quaint
hilltop village of Pissori with its spectacular views, to
name but a few. Andreas took time to point out places
of interest along the way such as the Tomb of the Kings where
the Greeks and Romans of ancient Paphos buried their most
prominent citizens in underground chambers and the Aphrodite’s
temple and the rocks from which she emerged fully grown.
Thanks to Andreas, this was a very informative and enjoyable
trip.
The following day we drove into the Troodos Mountains which
was an absolute delight. Stopping at a small Sunday market
in a hillside village along the way, the friendly traders
were delighted in showing us their wares, insisting that we
try the various items of confectionary they had for sale and
happily posed for photos for us. We also stopped to
admire the Caledonian Falls where many Cypriots apparently
come to take a shower or to cool off during the hot summer
months. It was a lovely warm day in November (temperatures
well into the 70's) and walking amongst the pine trees and
beside mountain streams was magical.
Then off to visit the Secret Valley Golf Course, close to
Paphos. It offers peace and tranquility amid spectacular
scenery and beautiful vegetation - as well as a magnificent
golf course! We viewed several villas there and also
some plans to build apartments nearby, which would be an excellent
investment project.
We had been staying in a hotel in Limassol - I especially
liked the 'old town' district with its shops and houses built
in local stone and its cobbled streets. The choice of
restaurants is vast, cosmopolitan and very good value for
money. On our last night in Cyprus we ordered a fish
meze and were treated to an array of delightful dips,
vegetables and many different types of fish cooked to perfection
and washed down with a few glasses of the local wine.
Since most Cypriots speak
English there is no language barrier and this, together with
the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean, beautiful mountains
and forests, wonderful climate and cheaper cost of living
makes this the ideal place for holidays, investment or taking
up permanent residence. I have now made my decision
to purchase a home in Cyprus from an off plan investment project
close to Pissori - throughout the preparing of contracts etc.,
the service provided by K&S Overseas Properties
has been excellent and I cannot thank them enough for helping
me find my dream 'place in the sun'!
